Meet The Crew
Captain Tim
Ahoy there! I’m Captain Tim, the man behind the creation of Beluga, the catamaran that has been sailing the waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands since 1985. If you’re interested in hearing some stories about the old days, I’m your guy.
I’ll tell you all about the history of Provo, or Providenciales, as we call it here (it’s a bit of a mouthful, you know). But if you really want to hear me go on and on, just ask me about my dear friend JoJo the dolphin. I can talk about that playful creature for hours on end!
When it comes to sailing, I can’t help teaching your children how it works but share my knowledge and passion for it. It all started when I was just a boy sailing with my dad. From there, I fell in love with designing, building, and sailing boats. I even received training in boatbuilding and Search and Rescue from the RNLI off the coast of Wales.
In 1982, Beluga was born, and in 1983 I was asked to build an 80-foot racing catamaran called FORMULE TAG, which would go on to break the Round the World record in 1994 as ENZA NEW ZEALAND under the late Sir Peter Blake. But I had already sailed away by then, seeking paradise in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Now, I’m excited to share my love for sailing and the beauty of these islands with you. And if you bring your kids along, be warned: I can’t resist teaching them all about how it works. So come aboard Beluga, and let’s set sail for adventure!
As the full-time captain of Beluga now, I’ve honed my skills navigating a big catamaran through the tropics. But it’s not all about sailing, mateys. I’m a fish in the water too, and I can hold my breath for much too long. I’m always up for taking you snorkeling and exploring the vibrant reef, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner.
So, if you’re ready for an adventure on the beautiful calm waters or high seas, come join me and let’s set sail together!
Captain Nik
Ahoy there, mateys! I’m Captain Nik, and I’ve been sailing the beautiful Beluga in the turquoise waters of Turks and Caicos since 2011. Sailing has been in my blood since I was just a wee lad, learning the ropes from my dad before I could even remember.
I’ve had my fair share of adventures, leading a flotilla of sailboats through the Mediterranean for four years in the Greek Islands. I even had a wild ride sailing from Spain back to my homeland in New Zealand before setting sail back to Greece where I met my lovely partner Rebecca.
After she got a job in the Turks and Caicos Islands, I joined her for a two-week beach bumming vacation, but my love of sailing soon called me back to the water. I found my way to Beluga and Captain Tim, and I’ve never looked back since.
