Snorkeling, Sailing, and Serenity
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Turks and Caicos for the first time and I must say, it was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to go on a private sailing charter with Sail Beluga and it was definitely the highlight of my trip.
It was a sunny Sunday morning with a light breeze, perfect for a day of sailing. The captain, Tim, set up the main sail and jib as we began our northwest journey towards Fort George Cay. The clear blue waters and the distant sound of seagulls created a peaceful atmosphere that instantly relaxed everyone on board.
I was with my friends on the boat including Kristian and his family with two young girls who were so excited to be on an adventure. After an hour of sailing, we arrived at Fort George Cay, a small remote island with a fascinating history.

Exploring the Remote Beaches of Fort George Cay
The island was once a lookout post for British troops in the 1800s, and today it’s a popular spot for tourists who want to explore its beautiful beaches and clear waters. We anchored the boat in shallow water, making it easy to jump into the water and walk to the beach.
We spent some time swimming in the warm water and soaking up the sun on the sandy beach. It was so peaceful and relaxing.
A Lucky Surprise Encounter
We then headed towards the Barrier Reef for some snorkeling. On the way there, we were pleasantly surprised by a friendly visitor – Jojo the dolphin, along with two other wild dolphins. It was amazing to see Jojo play in the waves and swim under the boat. It was truly a magical experience.
Finally, we arrived at the Barrier Reef, which was one of the best snorkeling spots in Turks and Caicos. The water was crystal clear, and I was amazed at the variety of marine life I saw, including colorful fish, sea turtles, and even a stingray.
Watching the Sunset on the Calm Waters
After we finished snorkeling at the Barrier Reef, we sailed outside of the reef into deeper waters. The ocean was more than 2000 feet deep, and the water was a beautiful dark blue color. The wind was very light, so the sail back was slow and relaxing.
Captain Tim and the crew prepared a delicious snack for us, and we enjoyed it while listening to some interesting stories he shared with us. We also had some Sparkling wine and Rum punch, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
The kids were tired from snorkeling, but they still enjoyed the calm waters and the nice sail back. As the sun began to set, the colors of the ocean turned into a beautiful golden hue. It was a magical moment, and we were all so grateful to have experienced it.
Captain Tim and the Sail Beluga crew made this an unforgettable experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Thank you, Captain Tim, for showing us the beauty of Turks and Caicos in such a special way. We will never forget this amazing day.
